Qualifications

An Architect to work on the design and integration of LAN/WAN technologies into the infrastructure, supporting the existing contracts

Network Engineering background
  • Analyzes network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommends modifications, if required, to network design/components
  • Understands of alternative methods of networking i.e. wireless
  • Able to determine the solution’s network impact
  • MUST HAVE 5+ years of Sr. Technical Leadership experience, with AT LEAST the most recent 2+ of those years on large scale Infrastructure (preferably in a Cisco/Microsoft environment) related projects. Must have experience leading and completing several large scale Infrastructure/Network related projects from conception to completion (from establishment of business requirements through deliverables)
  • MUST HAVE demonstrated in depth knowledge of internet business practices and operations
  • MUST HAVE the ability to understand complex Internet/eCommerce Infrastructures, and technical operations environments, and the ability to communicate issues and solution approaches to senior technology management are imperative to success in this position
  • Must have demonstrated experience leading diverse technical staff (including Unix/Microsoft Sys Admin, Cisco Network Engineers, Oracle DBAs, NOC) and non-technical staff
  • Must have extensive knowledge with Cisco Routers & Switches, Microsoft Server 2003 environments
  • Project Management experience is a plus. Any PMI or related certifications a plus

LAN/WAN Systems Engineer III
Clearance: Minimum Secret


A strong LAN/WAN Network Engineers with 5+ years of field experience with large-scale Cisco and Microsoft enterprise environments to support the design and configuration of programs under contract.

Candidate must be proficient with: Data Communications; Networking, TCP/IP; Routing Protocols.

The individual must understand the concept of network traffic baseline, capacity planning and IP routing to identify the services and applications to be accessed. Once the service identification process is complete, the individual will be responsible for a comprehensive technical solution design that covers the establishment of new extranet connections, as appropriate. The individual must present a balance of technical knowledge, organizational skill and professional presentation.

The appropriate candidate will have at least five (5) years experience working on formally structured design and development projects. This includes a basic understanding of the engineering project lifecycle, experience executing tasks under strict project management and ability to effectively present technical solutions in both written and verbal format. The candidate must be thoroughly familiar with the architecture and implementation of modern TCP/IP networks with specific knowledge of IP routing; IP traffic filtering (access lists), DNS, DHCP and the ability to understand Sniffer trace data.

Reports to the Manager of Network Engineering and will have close interactions with Program Management and Clients.

Requirements
  • MUST HAVE proven ability to interpret and blend data from various sources (e.g. CERT advisory reports, IAVA reports, threat analysis, etc)
  • MUST HAVE experience in implementing secure measures within hosting architectures (e.g. firewalls, IDS, VPNs, etc)
  • MUST HAVE ability to work in fast paced environments
  • MUST HAVE extensive knowledge with Cisco Routers & Switches, Microsoft Server 2003 environments

Individual contributor to the test and support organization for the design and support of the Government Microsoft network infrastructure.

  • Senior level engineer with prior 3-5 years experience in the deployment and support of network directory services.
  • Windows 2000 experience required. Knowledge of the following areas:
  • Active Directory server roles (FSMO)
  • Directory replication
  • Forest, domain and site architecture
  • Kerberos security authentication
  • RAID file structures
  • Data migration and data backup and recovery procedures including VERITAS Net backup
  • DNS, DHCP. IP Routing
  • Cisco networking experiences a plus
  • Excellent written language skills a must
  • Must be able to function in a team environment

Engineering background
  • Capable of analyzing system requirements and developing a test plan including test cases and procedures from those requirements
  • Must be able to plan the execution of these tests in a lab environment and work with network design engineers to remedy discovered defects during testing
  • Capable of working in a Network Operations Center environment to support the remediation of defects reported from a production network environment
  • Capable of analyzing submitted defects for accuracy by reproducing the defect in a laboratory environment
  • Must be able to work with network design engineers to remedy discovered defects and verify proposed solutions in a lab environment
  • Familiarity with the following:
  • Test tools such as packet sniffers and packet generation tools
  • Test automation tools such as Winrunner
  • Incident management systems such as Peregrine
  • Configuration management systems such as ClearCase

General Skills
  • Articulate
  • Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications are a plus
